Sometimes the smallest surprises lead to the best discoveries. In my village, a new book-swap shed appeared, tempting me to browse and donate. Among the finds was a hefty volume of Jane Austen’s works, which sparked a fresh appreciation for her writing, an encounter with the deliciously devious Lady Susan, and, ultimately, a modern twist on her world that I can’t wait to recommend.

There’s nothing quite like the joy of losing yourself in a good book. Reading has always been one of my greatest pleasures – a way to step into other worlds and see life through different eyes. Occasionally, a story stands out so strongly that I feel compelled to share it. That Bonesetter Woman by Frances Quinn is one of those books.
